Alter Ego de Palmer 2006
Margaux, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceThe first Alter Ego de Palmer was released in 1998 and marks the big changes at Palmer - where production was slashed in half. Alter Ego is made from the same grapes on the same terroir but the fermentation is cooler and shorter. The goal is the softness and fruit you find in the 2006 with the requisite smoky toasted oak and spice. Margaux is about elegance and approachability and Alter Ego has this in spades. It can go the distance if need be but why not enjoy the fruit and youth sooner than later and let the original Palmer label sleep in the cellar.Tasted: 11 September 2009Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $80.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Dream Wines |
