Alter Ego de Palmer 2003
Margaux, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceThe super warm 2003 vintage is the backdrop for this enriched edition of Alter Ego. The fruit is ripe if not a touch cooked with big spicy vanilla flavours from the oak. Yields were low so the concentration and depth of flavour is supercharged. The '03 trades the elegance and charm of the appellation for the weight and warmth of the vintage. A little lush and California in style which isn't all that bad. Ready to drink too. The first Alter Ego de Palmer was released in 1998 and marks the big changes at Palmer - where production was slashed in half. Alter Ego is made from the same grapes on the same terroir but the fermentation is cooler and shorter.Tasted: 11 September 2009Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:AB | $60.00 | 750ml | fine wine shops |
