Le Volte 2007
Tuscany, ItalyThe '07 harvest was kinder to the late ripening cabernet sauvignon than merlot in Bolgheri but in the case of Le Volte it is the sangiovese (51%) that carries this edition that mixes (34%) merlot with (15%) cabernet sauvignon. The wine gets about ten months of ageing in older Masseto and Ornellaia barrels. You notice a fragrance and freshness seldom seen in New World reds not to mention a sense of blance and harmony that keeps you coming back to the glass. Look for a delicious balance of spicy, floral red fruits with a kiss of oak and coffee. Very impressive and so balanced you can actually drink it now or hold it through 2015. Well done.Tasted: 17 July 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $34.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
