Matchbook Dunnigan Hills Syrah 2006

Dunnigan Hills, Yolo County, California, United StatesMeaty, peppery, tobacco leaf, menthol, cooked carrot, spicy, black cherry aromas with a dried herb note. Dry, tart, somewhat lean palate with light tannins. Very hot with smoky, meaty, peppery, earthy, tobacco, savoury, coffee grind flavours. Very commercial and very tart with acidity poking through on the finish. This wine has come down drastically in price but the quality would suggest it needed to. Simple American red wine made in a pseudo-Oz style.Tasted: 22 January 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
