Rutherford, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe Cask Cabernet farmed organically from 130 acres within the 235 acre Rubicon Estate. The Cask style is focuses on ripe Bing cherry flavours. In the warmth of the 2004 season most Rutherford cabernet was fully ripe and willing to accept 100 per cent new American oak. It's a hedonistic offering with bright almost chalky dusty fruit. Fine elegance given the early warm conditions that finishes smooth and silky on the palate. Small berry clones of cabernet insure the flavours are intense but they are well ameliorated by the 500 litres American oak puncheons. Very sexy wine.
