Pedestal Merlot 2005

Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesMichel Rolland makes the most of Washington merlot exposing its richness and back fruit, the coffee, vanilla, oregano, tobacco, peppery, licorice root aromas mix with floral notes to spin a web of complexity. Round and dry on the palate the tannins are youthful and ripe if a touch chunky. Big flavour intensity with more cedar, coffee, tobacco, vanilla, orange peel, clove, peppery, black olive, black cherry flavours. Long, ripe and warm but with fine long-term potential. A nice jump up in quality over the 2004 and it will only get better over the next five years in bottle.Tasted: 13 September 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
