Barone Ricasoli Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico 2001

Florence, Tuscany, ItalyFine spicy, floral, gamey, saddle leather, plum nose flecked with cherry cigar, sage and chocolate notes. Dry, with fine concentration and supple tannins. Lots of bitter chocolate, pepper, licorice root, cherry, orange peel and cassis flavours with a meaty, savoury, mineral finish. Good intensity and finesse with fine balance. Needs 2-4 years but drinkable now. An outstanding vintage, better than 1999 or 1997.Tasted: 13 November 2005Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
