Santa Rita Triple C 1999

Valle del Maipo, Region del Valle Central, ChileTriple C was first released in 1997 and all 200 cases were sold to two customers. The '99 Triple C blends 35 percent cabernet sauvignon, 55 percent cabernet franc and 10 percent carmenère in a very elegant Bordeaux blend orchestrated by winemaker Ilabaca. Great colour. Very spicy, smoky, roasted chili pepper, chocolate, minty, cassis jam, leather flavours with some orange rind and spicy aromas. Rich, round, ripe fruit and a sense of elegance not often encountered in Chile with very spicy, chocolate, chili pepper, vanilla, leather, dried lychee and tobacco flavours. A big step in Chile's rise to international respectability.Tasted: 26 March 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
