Carneros, Sonoma County, California, United StatesWe can't say enough good about '02 Schug Carneros. Walter Schug and Michael Cox use four clones of chardonnay all grown at the cool-climate Carneros Estate vineyard and barrel fermented and sur-lie age the lot to add complexity. Vanilla, honey, cream aromas with citrus, nectarine and a touch of nutty lees. Rich, round, fresh palate but elegant with honey, mango, citrus, baked apple and butterscotch flavours. Long, balanced and quite intense on the finish. Drink now or over the next two years.
