Veuve Clicquot Rich Reserve 1996
Champagne, FranceAt 25 grams of residual sugar the dosage (added sugar syrup mixed with wine) of Clicquot's Rich Réserve is double that of a standard brut champagne. It's classified as a "sec," -- that's slightly sweeter than extra sec but not near sweet as the 45 grams residual sugar demi-sec. It's a bubble built for foie gras and spicy Asian/Indian food but it remains first and foremost a vintage champagne produced from some 20 top grand cru and premier cru vineyards. Look for a lively sparkler with floral overtones and sweet vanilla fruit flavours streaked with peaches and nectarines. Seared scallop and lavender dusted foie gras is a match made in heaven.Tasted: 28 December 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $125.00 | 750ml | Speculative - Diageo |
