Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe 2000 vintage is the 26th Alexander's Crown a single vineyard that sits atop a rise in Alexander Valley. Quite an earthy/leathery aroma with prune, plum, chocolate and rootsy cassis notes. The styling is dry and round with slightly tight, grainy tannins. Not big but nice vanilla, coffee, cassis, cherry black olive flavours mixed with a touch of earthy, orange peel on the finish. Drinking nicely now but should improve for with 2-3 years aging.
