Errazuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2000
Valle de Aconcagua, Region de Aconcagua, ChileTasted twice in the last six months and the latest edition appears to be softening up just a touch. The sappy/cassis and minty leather nose remains and in fact is very "Don Max," but the wine lacks the total ripeness and richness you expect at this price point. The flavours are similarly streaked with tobacco, earth, chocolate and cassis flavours. Winemaker Ed Flaherty says the grapes are picked over a longer time a decade today allowing for block ripening as opposed to the entire vineyard.
