Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso 1999
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyBig peppery, gamey, black cherry jam aromas with strong black licorice and vanilla tones. Rich and ripe with soft, grainy tannins and "warm" peppery, black licorice, cherry jam and coffee flavours. There is plenty of intensity here, and while it is mostly balanced it finishes a touch hot or alcoholic. It is drinkable now, but will benefit from one to three more years in bottle. The blend is 80 per cent sangiovese with the rest a mix of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and syrah.Tasted: 13 July 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $61.95 | 750ml | Specialty - Winspeer |
