Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir Private Selection 2001

Central Coast, California, United StatesPrivate Selection is the replacement label for the Coastal series which at least in the eyes of the Mondavi team had lost its appeal with so many other wineries using the coastal term. If you ask us Private Selection has to rank among the lamest wine monikers in the business rivalling the likes of Proprietor's Reserve and Vintner's Reserve. As for the latest edition look for a spicy barnyard nose with a sweet cherry smoky mint leaf nose. Its round and soft on entry but the fruit is dry and slightly astringent in the aftertaste.
