The nose is an intense mix of pepper, waxy saddle leather, blackberry jam, cassis and spicy cardamom flecked with vanilla notes. Certainly riper than the 1998 with spicy, earthy, licorice, vanilla, blackberry flavours and the taste of cedar, olives and leather in the finish. Fine richness and balance with a persistent cinnamon, vanilla/toffee aftertaste.
