Cockburn's Vintage Port 2000
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalGrapes from Cockburn's vineyards in the Villariça Valley and from Cockburn's Quinta dos Canais Estate provided the nucleus of the vintage port blend. In 2000 look for high-toned prune fruit aromas and heaps of alcoholic esters. Peppery plum fruit and more prune fruit flavours in the aftertaste. This is one hot, peppery spicy red with big intensity and whack of tannin yet to be digested. Not as approachable as some other 2000s but will no doubt blossom in another 10 to 15 years.
