Brancaia Il Blu 1999
Tuscany, ItalyA blend of sangiovese, merlot and a dash of cabernet sauvignon all aged in new French barriques for 16 months. Smoky ripe blackberry nose with hints of game and spicy pepper. Very appealing nose. Ripe rich round fruit on the palate with supple tannins and a warm oaky cherry smoked wood finish. It will need a good five years to settle down but you can bet they will pour this all winter in Whistler.
