Rosemount Shiraz 1999

South Australia, AustraliaRosemount's flagship red varietal is primarily grown in the South Australian regions of Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale with a small proportion of fruit coming from Mudgee in New South Wales. The wine is fermented in several parcels, which allows for flexibility in fermentation methods. Some grapes are worked in old, open vats where the cap of grapes is plunged down by hand producing a forward, softer, plummy style red while others are vinified in red wine fermenters where the juice is pumped over the cap regularly to extract colour, structure and flavour. The 1999 Rosemount shiraz is back on track. The nose is open and inviting mixing vanilla /coconut oak and spicy dark berry fruit. The mid-palate is soft, with generous, round tannins. After years of growing demand it looks as if the supply has finally caught up with demand and perhaps quality with price. Soft, round and easy to drink.302349 Tasted: 01 March 2002Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
