Penfolds Shiraz - Mourvèdre - Grenache Old Vine Bin 138 1999
Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaBin 138 is a 36/34/30 shiraz/mourvèdre/grenache blend that gets no new oak. Sensational fruit here with prune, raspberry, blackberry aromas mixed with pepper, spice, sweaty leather and chocolate. Lovely drinking wine (the alcohol is under control) with ripe blackberry, prune, chocolate flavours and a long spicy, mushroom earth finish. There's still a touch of tannin in the long and intense finish. Fun to sip now but it will improve with another 3 to 5 years of bottle age.Tasted: 01 March 2002Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml |
