Wynns Coonawarra Estate Shiraz 1998

Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaWinemaker Sue Hodder is doing a great job at Wynns as evidenced by her terrific '98 Coonawarra shiraz. She say's, "the '98 comes from a great vintage when the rains fell at the right time, the yields were not particularly low and the balance was great." You'll find lots of ripe, coffee/vanilla and blackberry jam aromas with a dose of pencil shavings on the nose and intense red fruit that tastes pretty much the way it smells but with much more weight and sophistication when compared to the simply-styled Rosemount. Fine now but will hold for three to five more years. Excellent value.Tasted: 01 March 2001Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
