Fetzer Valley Oaks Zinfandel 1998
California, United StatesThe Fetzer flagship varietal is zinfandel (first commercial release 1968). To cope with rising prices the blend or source of grapes is from the much broader California AVA. The wine spends 11 months in new and used (mostly) American oak and the winery added 13 percent petite sirah to bolster the wine's colour and structure. Look for a full-flavoured red showing aromas of dried berries spice and chocolate. Similar flavours with a dash of tobacco and prune suggest you drink this wine this summer. It's an adequate red but could use more intensity. Pair with barbecued ribs.Tasted: 01 March 2001Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:BC | $16.45 | 750ml |
