Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1997

Napa Valley, California, United StatesOne of the best Mondavi reserves ever. This is a rich flavourful red that tastes of blackberry jam, tobacco and earth. The reserve is slightly drier than the District wines, which makes it more complex and almost Bordeaux-like. The '97 reserve is big and ripe with young, tight tannins, vanilla, blackberry, spicy clove and earth flavours and a long, minty/spicy, vanilla, finish. Drier and more elegant than the To-Kalon. It is Tim Mondavi's most refined reserve to date and the most complex at such a young age. Re-tasted in September 2002 and it's a monster. Leave this baby in the cellar for a decade. Short hot season.Tasted: 01 May 2000Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
