Bertani Valpolicella Valpantena 1997

Veneto, ItalyValpantena is the smallest region in Valpolicella with the coolest, darkest soils. Bertani uses the Ripasso method; re-fermenting the juice on the lees of another wine; adding weight and power. Deep colour in a rich smooth silky style. Lots of black olive, truffle, floral, cherry jam, spicy aromas and flavours, very rich. An exceptional vintage in Verona that is being compared to the great wines of 1928, 1946 and 1964. Good value.Tasted: 01 October 1999Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
