Langhe, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyThis Langhe nebbiolo is all declassified cru sites, aged for less than the minimum requirements, and therefore doesn't qualify for the Barolo DOCG. All the better for us - the same delicious nebbiolo, at a stellar price. Decant this and allow the 35-year-old vines some breathing room, and the savoury dried florals, leather, dried medicinal cherry and bramble to emerge. Firm, iron-dusted tannins harness everything in tightly, and though the finish carries heat and some cherry dryness (it's still young - give it time), its nothing that a mushroom risotto or truffled chicken won't easily cure.
