Spain captures sunshine in a glass, and in the case of whites, reflects it back via bright, fruity wines.
Though predominantly a red-wine country, Spanish white wines offer intriguging flavours (exotic peach, herbal stone fruits, pithy spicing) and amazing value. Whether crisp and light, from the Atlantic Coast's Rias Baixas, to ripe and richer styles from central and southern regions, the wines are as diverse as Spain itself. Now that producers are paying closer attention to match grapes to site, the white wines are better than ever. Indigenous grapes shine brightest; watch for verdejo, albarino, garnacha blanca, godello, viura (macabeo) and malvasia.
Here are our Top 10 Spanish wines tasted recently at GOW.
