It's done, it's out and it's ready to use.
The WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada are out and British Columbia wineries have done very well. I’m always amazed at the attention domestic wineries afford foreign accolades and medals given the relative low number of entries in what is always a broad ‘Canadian’ category and the mix of judges, nearly all of whom would be unfamiliar with Canadian wine or at best tasting them for the first time. You don’t get that variation at The Nationals now 15 years old and under strong leadership. With categories of 50 to 100 entries it is difficult enough to win your flight, let alone return and beat the best of the best to grab a platinum. Enjoy the full results published here. Meanwhile closer to home, the Vancouver Sun Winegrower Series is ongoing and you can watch the latest videos here. Finally, Treve, Stuart and I have been cranking out the reviews, over 270 in the last month right here at Gismondi On Wine. Enjoy what's left of an unusual west coast summer. Who knows when it might end.
