DRY WHITE WINES: IT'LL BE GREAT...

Very hot years are rarely great for white wines. The flavours of the earlier maturing white grapes are burned off through their ill-protected skins, whereas red grapes, thanks to their pigmentation and tannins, are naturally far better protected.

The grape harvest at Domaine de Chevalier is currently coming to a close - as regards white grapes -
after 15 days of grape picking in exceptional weather conditions. I am already able to guarantee that Domaine de Chevalier white will be a very good and up to par with the greatest successes produced over the past 20 years.

On average, batches have an entirely natural alcohol content noticeably over 13°, with pH values ranging between 3.10 and 3.20, which is proof of the perfect balance preserving the freshness of the fruit as well as its great maturity.

RED WINES: THE GAME ISN'T OVER YET...

Give me an accurate weather forecast for the next 3 weeks and I'll tell you how we'll do in 2007... As
long as the grapes haven't been harvested, wine growers prefer to be discreet. But the incredible change in the weather over the past fortnight is changing the cards in hand. The Merlots are nearing optimal maturity and the Cabernets are progressing daily in conditions I've rarely known to be so perfect...

Will September "make the must" in 2007? Could the climatic upheavals of the past few years work in Bordeaux's favour this year? Why not...?
