Real Wine

By: Anthony Gismondi

Another Vancouver International Wine Festival has come and gone.

The Portuguese and Spanish put on a great show (read they sent many of their top producers and they brought some amazing wines) and frankly have issued a major challenge to next year’s theme region, California, announced on Saturday night. It’s going to be interesting to see if the ultra-conservative Californians will step up to the plate and capture the imagination of younger consumers living on the new and electric wines emanating throughout the international wine world. Time will tell, and we hope they will. Meanwhile, we have released scores of Tasting Notes in 2018 and we continue to do so everyday on GOW. In the coming weeks we will be launching an additional level of scrutiny to our wine reviews by noting the very best bottles we taste as “Real Wine.” Stay tuned for the story, and the roll out.
