Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - Following the December 22, 2004 takeover of Robert Mondavi Corporation, Constellation Brands announced plans to change the Robert Mondavi agency representation in Western Canada. Beginning April 1, 2005, Robert Mondavi will be represented by Medallion Wines (partially owned by Constellation Brands) in all Western Canadian Provinces and Territories. Maxxium Canada previously managed distribution and marketing for Robert Mondavi in this region. Eric Morham, Senior Vice President of International Sales for Constellation Wines, said, "One of Maxxium Canada's predecessor companies, Vintage Consultants Ltd, introduced Robert Mondavi Winery to Western Canada almost 30 years ago, and their effect on our business has been profound. This decision is not a reflection on Maxxium's performance, but follows our strategy to align Constellation owned brands into Constellation distributors. As evidenced by our strong numbers we want to recognize and thank Maxxium for their great work and professionalism on our behalf." Iain Abercrombie, president of Maxxium Canada said, "We are proud of the long relationship with Robert Mondavi, and the role we played in the company's growth. We are sad to see this decision, but understand that it is only natural for Constellation to consolidate their business under their own corporately owned distribution system. We believe that our association with Robert Mondavi has been of mutual benefit to both companies." Medallion Wines, headquartered in Vancouver, was established in January 1996, and has a growing, dedicated sales force, covering both on and off premise business, and providing extensive product support to their clients. David Sanagan, President of Medallion Wines, has overseen rapid growth in his company since its inception, and is proud to welcome Robert Mondavi to Medallion's exciting international portfolio. Robert Mondavi began exporting wines to Canada in 1975, and has consistently maintained a leadership role in the California wine category. Annual sales have reached almost 240,000 cases, representing more than 10% market share of the California wine segment, clearly demonstrating the excellent support this brand receives from Canadian consumers.
