Anthony Gismondi on Wine

Back home to B.C., and what a glorious weekend for it.

After a few months of travel, sights are now squarely focused on preparing for the National Wine Awards of Canada. Anthony and Earl have been busy organizing the 1500 or so wines into appropriate flights and finalizing judging panels while bottles from coast to coast, quite literally, are winging their way to Niagara Falls over the next couple of weeks. My fellow judges and I clear our calendars months in advance; it's quite an honour and privilege to taste Canadian wines as they soar ever higher, and watch trends, strengths and challenges as they develop vintage over vintage. This year we welcome back international judge Dr. Jamie Goode who brings a studied and traveled global perspective to our nation's wines. The National judging team is excited to look in, but it's just as important to remember to look (and listen) outwards as well. Follow along on Twitter with #NWAC15 throughout June and keep an eye on our top wine finds and travels on Instagram at GismondiOnWine.
