Gismondi on Wine is expanding.
This month we welcome two new contributors to help us better cover the world of wine. Increased travel, a burgeoning local scene, and as many of you know, an almost incomprehensible retail market has caused us to widen our circle just a bit. Joining Treve Ring and me are DJ Kearney and Geoffrey Moss, two competent local tasters.
Vancouver resident DJ Kearney joins GOW to share her wisdom and enthusiasm for all wines. Kearney is a long-time and respected wine educator who has trained thousands of sommeliers across North America. She is the vice president of the British Columbia chapter of the Canadian Association of Sommeliers and a long-time wine judge. After working for Gismondi on Wine on and off over the years, we are pleased to have her join us regularly.
Geoffrey Moss is making his foray into the media side of wine after a short but highly distinguished career in wine. Moss is a Master of Wine candidate who passed the theory and practical exam on his first try last fall. With the toughest part out of the way, he should be a newly minted MW very shortly. Geoffrey earned a degree in Political Science, with honours, from McGill University, and a Winery & Viticulture Technician diploma from Niagara College. His work experience makes him a versatile member of our team after stints as marketing manager for premium wine brands Phantom Creek Estates, and Culmina Family Estate Winery. Currently, he operates a global wine consulting business. Moss will review wines from his position in Penticton, the center of the Okanagan Valley.
Treve and I are sure you will enjoy the increased coverage and voices of our newest contributors. We will all continue to cover the world of wine from our unique vantage point on the west coast of Canada, overlooking the Pacific Rim.
