One of British Columbia's first full-size private liquor stores has opened in Victoria.

One of British Columbia's first full-size private liquor stores has opened in Victoria. Liquor Plus is located at the corner of Douglas and Topaz, near downtown Victoria. Liquor Plus offers a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits. The 7,500 square foot facility also includes a Wine Cellar with a range of specialty wines.

"Our stock includes 1,400 kinds of wine, including many wines that you can only find in a few very select stores in the province," says Paul Bell, manager of Liquor Plus, also known locally as one of the owners of the Herald Street Caffé, which has an award-winning wine list. "We have wine advisors on staff and we'll take requests for special wine purchases." Liquor Plus also sells snacks, mix and gift bags. A Licensed Retail Store under the Liquor Act, it is the first private liquor store in Victoria to offer a full selection of spirits and liqueurs.

Liquor Plus is the first phase of a renovation of the Ingraham Hotel. Subsequent phases will see the opening of a new Bar and Grill and a complete refurbishing of the 50-room hotel and re-opening. The property and businesses are owned by a partnership of local businesspeople.

Open seven days a week and holidays from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Liquor Plus has plenty of free parking and an easily accessible bottle return depot.
