Vancouver, B.C., After too many months, owner Manuel Ferreira, has reopened Le Gavroche to the dining public.
Le Gavroche was closed July 19, 2002 to due to fire damage and after ten months of wrangling with city inspectors Ferreira has finally been allowed to reopen the Vancouver landmark. Le Gavroche is open for dinner seven nights a week from 5:30p.m. and lunch Monday to Friday, 11:30 - 2:30p.m.
New at Le Gavroche is the Wine Bar. Using space to its maximum efficiency, Ferreira has chosen to make some changes to the front dining room and now has a ten seat Wine Bar. This will afford the luxury of solo dining at the bar; be it lunch, dinner or a late night supper. Given Ferreira incredible 35,000 bottles wine list - recognized by The Wine Spectator for eight years, I suspect the wine bar is going to be a hit with Vancouver wine aficionados.
First opened in 1978 by Jean Luc Bertrand, the gently refurbished Victorian house (circa 1910's) features French cuisine not pretending to be anything but, and spectacular views of the Coastal Mountains and Coal Harbour from the upstairs terrace.
