Grapevine, Texas, --- Inspired by the anniversary of the Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk, John and Gina Puente Brancato, owners of La Bodega Winery at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, are introducing "Aero Port," their first port wine.  "Aero Port is produced from 100 per cent lenoir (Texas) grapes that have been fermented in stainless steel tanks and have been double barrel aged in American and French oak for about 24 months.

Aero Port was fermented with a high alcohol tolerant yeast bringing the alcohol content to 19 per cent naturally," explains Gina Puente Brancato, co-owner of La Bodega Winery with her husband, John Brancato.

"This 2000 vintage is extraordinary for a variety of reasons.  La Bodega wanted to celebrate the commemoration of the Kitty Hawk flight by doing something unique.   La Bodega Winery has been cellaring two five-gallon barrels of Aero Port at its Bonded Winery in Terminal A, Gate A15, at D/FW International Airport.  The two American oak barrels were blended to produce what is the world's first wine ever cellared at an airport winery," she explains.

The label is another facet which makes Aero Port unique.  "The label depicts the Kitty Hawk flight with the artist's taking the liberty of depicting the flight over a Texas vineyard with Texas oil pumps and a beautiful sunset in the background.  On Aero Port's label, La Bodega Winery  toasts the 'pioneering venture of the fathers of aviation.'  La Bodega Winery is the only winery in an airport, and none of this would have materialized if it were not for the heroics of Kitty Hawk, NC," explains John Brancato.  Only 672 bottles have been produced with this commemorative label.
