British Columbia Wine Institute Appoints New Executive Director

Kelowna, British Columbia - Dr. David E. Bond Chair of the BC Wine Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Peggy Athans to the position of Executive Director, British Columbia Wine Institute.

Most recently, Ms. Athans held the position of Vice President Sales, British Columbia for Southcorp Wines Canada Inc where she developed and implemented strategic initiatives resulting in a significant gain of market share for the Australian Wine category.

Prior to her role at Southcorp Wines, Ms. Athans held the position of Sales Director, Western Canada for Academy Brands International.  Her 15 years in the wine industry began in the British Columbia wine industry with Andres Wines.

"I have been watching the British Columbia Wine Industry closely over the past 10 years," states Athans.  "The changes and advancement the industry has undergone has been incredible, particularly over the past 3 years.  British Columbia Wine has so much to offer, our regions are simply, second to none in the world."

Ms. Athans and her family will be relocating from Vancouver to Kelowna Dec. 1.
