Ben Stewart and the Stewart Family, Proprietors of Quails' Gate Estate Winery are pleased to announce the appointment of a new winemaker, Grant Stanley.
Grant, who was the Assistant Winemaker at Ata Rangi Limited in New Zealand, has gained international recognition of consistently producing the Best Pinot Noir at the International Wine and Spirit Trophy in the United Kingdom in 1995, 1996 and 2001.
In addition to his career at Ata Rangi Limited, Grant has worked along side notable wineries including Yamhill Valley Vineyards and Ken Wright Cellars, in Oregon.
"We are very pleased to have Grant join the winery, his expertise and passion for wines is a superb fit with Quails' Gate. We know that he will continue in our tradition of providing superb handcrafted wines," stated Stewart.
Quails' Gate and Grant are a perfect match. "Our philosophy of making good wines is the same. In addition to crop sizes, careful handling with traditional and modern techniques, Quails' Gate is committed to things that are invisible to the eye, like honesty and integrity", says Stanley.
A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Grant is delighted to be returning home with his wife Annabel and son Francis. He is excited to bring his expertise, enthusiasm and experience to this prestigious, family owned winery. "Quails' Gate produces the top Pinot Noir in the country", says Grant, "and I'm very optimistic about future productions of the Merlot, Chenin Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay."
