Tinhorn Creek Oldfield Series Pinot Noir 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBlack cherry and bittersweet chocolate ring through the Oldfield Series Pinot Noir this vintage, with fine, earth-dusted tannins and a taut band of acidity. With fruit from Black Sage Bench's Diamondback Vineyard and Golden Mile Bench's Tinhorn Creek Vineyard (16-23-year-old vines between them) this expresses a more refined and elegant wine than previous vintages. Destemmed and crushed gapes cold settle on skins for three days before fermentation, prior to pressing off to older barrels for eighteen months, and then bottle for one year. Mushrooms and black cherry continue on the medium bodied palate, brightened by a cranberry tartness. Fresh and refined at once, this is drinking lovely now (try with duck) but will continue to develop with short term cellaring. Well done.Tasted: 10 June 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
