Terravista Vineyards Mencía 2025

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA first for Canada, Terravista's plantings of the Spanish grape Mencía, planted in Naramata's Outlook Vineyard in 2021, are now online, yielding both a red and rosé version from 2025, in very limited release. This tinto was destemmed and fermented equally between oat vat and stainless tank, before aging in neutral French oak for 9 months. Herbal blackberry, cassis, crushed purple florals, peppercorns, and thorns course through the surprisingly meaty, yet juicy palate, with appropriately grippy tannins housing this youthful red through the peppery, lingering finish. More impactful than its young vine, 13.5% would be expected, in a wonderful way.
