Le Cinciole Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi 2019

Tuscany, ItalyLe Cinciole's single vineyard Gran Selezione Aluigi consistently ranks among the top Chianti Classicos. The all-sangiovese 2019 Aluigi has received rave reviews, and on tasting, I can see why. It meets the Gran Selezione promise of being the best wine of the year, with a magical mixture of floral, earthy, meaty notes that preview ripe dark fruit, dried wild herbs, and a balanced structure of tannin and acidity. It is a joy to sip, and it has many years ahead of it in the bottle. The grapes, harvested by hand, are destemmed and gently crushed in cement vats for long, slow maceration. Fermentation is wild, while the ageing is in traditional French Oak barriques for 24 months, plus another year in cement tanks, plus another year in the bottle at the winery.Tasted: 06 October 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
