Clos du Soleil Winemaker's Series Chardonnay La Côte Vineyard 2025
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2025 Clos du Soleil is a bit old school. Fellow GOW taster Geoffrey Moss says it eschews the more modern reductive style, aging in older wood and presenting depth while keeping the fruit front and centre. In short, it is a real mouthful of chardonnay, unencumbered by manipulation, favouring depth and layering with a twist of wild desert scrub. Geoff was leaning towards a Chablis-style, and I have to agree. It is all that and more. Yet another example of the Similkameen's diverse promise.Tasted: 03 October 2026Tasted by: Prices:

Clos du Soleil Winemaker's Series Chardonnay La Côte Vineyard 2025
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis immediately grabbed my attention when I first tried it over harvest at the winery. Not because it's a showy chardonnay – it's aged in older wood and decidedly steers away from the trend towards reduction. But because there's a real depth and purity to the fruit, which leads with bright lemon and white peach, reining in the warmth and ripeness of the 2025 vintage to craft something elegant and poised. I would say it's all about the texture, but really it's about the Similkameen salinity that keeps pulling me back to the glass. For a moment you could mistakenly think you were in Chablis until you realize it's just Similkameen through and through.Tasted: 10 October 2026Tasted by: Prices:
