Craven Grenache 2024
Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaThe inaugural released vintage for Craven Grenache (they happily drank it themselves prior), this comes from Neverland vineyard's decomposed granite / koffeklip soils in Stellies' Newlands, the same site as their iconic Pinot Gris. This was destemmed, native fermented, and rested in concrete. Wild strawberry, summer raspberry is scented with scrubby herbs, and seasoned liberally with mustard seed. There is a kinetic energy throughout this lighter (12.5%) red, with an alluring textural grip from the concrete, and long, lithe tannins pinning in the sides through the lingering saline finish. 2500 bottles produced, so consider yourself lucky if one comes across your path.
