Champagne Girard-Bonnet Au Bout du Chemin 1er Cru NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceChampagne Girard-Bonnet is a relatively new estate, based in the Les Mesnil sur-Oger GC, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Paul Girard is a young and passionate vigneron, and connected his father, Philippe Girard’s holdings in Les Mesnil, with his mother, Dominique Bonnet’s holdings in Oger. His twelve hectares of organic / biodynamic vineyards are split primarily between those 2 GCs. This, however, is from two east facing plots in 1er Crus Vertus and Voipreux, based on 2022 with some reserve wines blended in, and fermented in stainless and barrel with partial MLF. After 18 months years sur lattes under agrafe (cork and staple), this was disgorged in April 2025 with 2 g/L. Perfumed yellow fruits, crisp green apple, lemon verbena roll through a creamy palate, with very fine mousse carrying it to a chalk dust, bitter citrus finish.
