Tantalus Chardonnay Mio Vineyard 2024
Ontario, CanadaOne of Tantalus' 2024 CIBC replacement wines, this chardonnay comes from Niagara's Mio Vineyard. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and settled for two days at Southbrook Winery in the Niagara Peninsula before being cool-shipped to Tantalus' East Kelowna winery, where it was native fermented in 30% new French oak. After 10 months on lees, with partial malolactic fermentation and no bâtonnage, the result is a ripe, leesy style marked by sweet lemon, creamed corn, and a suave toasted wood spice. It is slightly richer and more generous than the regular BC Tantalus version. We are splitting hairs here, but if you know Puligny and Meursault, it is more like the latter. Ontario has a very specific style of chardonnay, and it's different from BC's. It is another reason why we need to open provincial borders and let the wines and wine styles flow across the nation.Tasted: 18 May 2026Tasted by: Prices:| BC | $36.50 | 750ml | winery online/direct |
