Domaine Aléofane Saint Joseph 2024
Saint Joseph, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceDomaine Aléofane is the project of Natacha Chave, the younger sister of Yann Chave. Yann runs the famous domaine named after him, which was started by their parents in the 1970s. After studying philosophy at university, Natacha returned to her winemaking roots but instead of opting for the easier option of working with her brother, she decided to start up on her own and in 2004 purchased her first vineyard. Natacha farms her vineyards in Saint Joseph, Crozes Hermitage, and Cornas biodynamically, and this is 1 of the 4 cuvées she produces. This syrah spent 1 month in tank before moving to barrel (80% demimuids and 20% 220L) for 11 months prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered. Dense and ripe thorny wild blackberry, cassis, cracked black pepper, scrubby herbs, cracked fennel flood a juicy, toothsome palate, admirably kept to a modest 13%. Tannins are firm, sueding the sides through to a lingering stony, sweet baking spice finish. Fantastic structure and freshness here, drinking now and with ample time ahead.Tasted: 17 July 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:| ON | $59.00 | 750ml | consignment |
