Domaine Aléofane Crozes Hermitage 2024

Crozes Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceDomaine Aléofane is the project of Natacha Chave, the younger sister of Yann Chave. Yann runs the famous domaine named after him, which was started by their parents in the 1970s. After studying philosophy at university, Natacha returned to her winemaking roots but instead of opting for the easier option of working with her brother, she decided to start up on her own and in 2004 purchased her first vineyard. Natacha farms her vineyards in Saint Joseph, Crozes Hermitage, and Cornas biodynamically, and this is 1 of the 4 cuvées she produces. This syrah is off 50 year old vines in the Chassis plain. It was native fermented with 1 month of maceration before 14 months aging in oak barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Perfumed cassis, wild thorny blackberry is lashed with cracked peppercorns, and scented with violets. Tannins are fine, and well absorbed into the 13% palate, leaving just a whisper in their wake on the lingering humming, sweet spiced finish. A very serene example of CH, drinking now and with time ahead.Tasted: 17 July 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
