Domaine Aléofane Cornas 2024

Cornas, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceDomaine Aléofane is the project of Natacha Chave, the younger sister of Yann Chave. Yann runs the famous domaine named after him, which was started by their parents in the 1970s. After studying philosophy at university, Natacha returned to her winemaking roots but instead of opting for the easier option of working with her brother, she decided to start up on her own and in 2004 purchased her first vineyard. Natacha farms her vineyards in Saint Joseph, Crozes Hermitage, and Cornas biodynamically, and this is 1 of the 4 cuvées she produces. This is a single plot of massale selection syrah, at 380m. This was 1/3 whole bunch, in stainless for 3 weeks before reading to demi-muids for 11 months aging, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Wild thorny blackberries, fragrant charcuterie, perfumed violets, scrubby resinous herbs are woven through this powerful red, with firm, confident, yet fine tannins structuring, and a graceful easy lofted acidity buoying to the ferrous, peppery lingering finish. There is a LOT of wine here for 13%, drinking beauty now, but with time ahead in your cellar.Tasted: 17 July 2026Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
