Château Pesquié Quintessence Rouge 2023

Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceIt's year 34 for Quintessence Rouge, a label that highlights concentration, freshness, and balance in a single bottle. It is the trademark of the Château Pesquié style. Black fruits, plums, olives, and spice dominate this single vineyard 80/20 blend of syrah/grenache from selected plots of 50+ year old, south-facing vines, with a wisp of garrigue from the wild scrublands. Think rich dishes for the match: osso buco, duck confit or even Tandori chicken. Post-fermentation, the blend is aged in 40% new oak barrels for 12 to 15 months. Frederick Chaudière likes to point out that this label is a fine example of how a southern Rhône at altitude can give off some northern Rhône notes, namely minerality, freshness, and florals.Tasted: 17 July 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
