Morellino di Scansano, Maremma, Tuscany, ItalyHailing from Alto Adige, but fallen in love with Montalcino, the Loacker wine family created Tenuta Valdifalco, located in the Maremma region of southern Toscana, near the Tyrrhenian coast. This is primarily sangiovese, blended with 15% syrah, aged 90% in stainless and 10% in neutral tonneaux for 1 year, followed by 2 months in stainless prior to bottling. Wild cherry, dense black raspberry flood a fleshy palate, with crushed stones giving a lifted freshness, and sticky tannins leading to a kirsch finish.
