Le Vieux Pin Syrah Cuvée Classique 2023
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the big brother to Violette, and in 2023, it blends syrah with 11% marsanne, in a curious twist. It spent 20 months in older French barrels. Pouring a deep violet hue, with fragrant violets also rushing from the glass, surrounded by black plum, wild cassis, thorns, and peonies on a dense, finely textural palate. Tannins are plush and well integrated into the depth of fruit, with an easy acidity to counter, and a long, peppery finish to close out.
