Lombardy, ItalyFrom a co-op founded in 1938, Rosa Matilde is entirely Lambrusco Montericco, an heirloom variety of Italy's oldest family of grapes, and of which this co-op is the custodian. There are only 12 hectares of this wild one left today, and they collectively farm 10 hectares of them. This charmat method example is delicate, pale pink, and light bodied, with subtle strawberries, pear blossoms, and lofted pointed acidity, kissed with balsam, lavender, and rose.
